Part 1 – Our Organic Union

This Article is part of a multi-part Study Series called Our Organic Union with the Lord - a 3-Part Series.

When God created life on earth He made it such that every living thing would reproduce after their own “kind” … whether animal, vegetable, fish, bird, or human. Paul wrote that “the creation,” including physical life, is a ‘type’ or metaphor to reveal how the things of God were set into motion and how life is conveyed.

“For the invisible things of him (God) from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made ...” (Rom. 1:20)

Webster’s Dictionary defines ‘organic’ as “that which relates to or is derived from a living organism.” Since Christ is “the resurrection and the life (Zoë, the spirit-life of the Godhead, Jn. 14:6), the “church, which is His body is a ‘living organism,’ not at all to be compared with the organizations or institutions that are erroneously called ‘the church.’ On the last page of this paper is a ‘chart’ that compares the religious institution with “the church which, is the body of Christ” as a living organism.

An important key characteristic of life is that all life-forms reproduce “after their (own) kind.”

“And God made the beast of the earth AFTER HIS KIND, and cattle AFTER THEIR KIND, and every thing that creepeth upon the earth AFTER HIS KIND: and God saw that it was good.” (Genesis 1:25)

These same organic reproductive principals apply to all those who would be “born of God” (1John 3:9). God the Father is the progenitor or source of the real Spirit life’ of Christ that is birthed into believer’s human spirit at the moment of their salvation. Thereby, we are of “His kind,” having His life and nature in our spirit.

This is quite a simple truth; that all life will reproduce after their kind.” God births the Godhead life by Christ as “the Spirit of life” into believers. Every regenerated child of the living God is born of the “Spirit of life in Christ Jesus,” thus bearing the very ‘same kind of life’ and nature as the resurrected Christ.

The physical created life we possess is but a shadow of the spiritual reality of Christ’slife’ in every believer by the deposit of the “Spirit of life in Christ Jesus” in their “spirit of man,” thus becoming “one spirit” with the believer.

“The LORD… formeth the spirit of man within him.” (Zech. 12:1)
“That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.” (Jn. 3:6 (KJV)

“But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit. (1 Corinthians 6:17)

The organic reproduction of every life form “after their kind” is a clear picture of the spiritual reality that man was created to receive Christ’s “Spirit of life” to complete” man’s creation (Col. 2:10). God’s very own life and spiritual DNA is in every believer’s spirit by their union with the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus” (Rom. 8:2, 1Cor. 6:17). Now the Lord Jesus is “that Spirit” who is “The Life,” which includes His righteousness, wisdom, peace, and power that is in us (cf. Col. 2:9). Thus, Paul wrote; “ye are complete in Him” (Col. 2:10).

As we further consider the physical life we can better see the implications of this spiritual union we have with God our Father as the progenitor of our new eternal spiritual life, by Christ’s Spirit in our human “spirit of man.” Thereby, we have Christ’s life and His nature. So, the real us within our spirit has the righteous nature and character of the Godhead. Now, as we hear by the sense we have of Him within our spirit, we recognize certain promptings and a restraining of His life (Christ’s life) that is contrary to the impulses that we have by “sin in the flesh (Rom. 8:3) of our body in which we live while on earth.

“For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other…” (Galatians 5:17 (KJV)

So, as we learn to co-operate with the His Spirit’s moving within our spirit, our life is less troubled. He in us is our inner wisdom and guide for daily living.

Let’s now consider more about God’s original intent for mankind as seen in how man was created. Gen 1:26aAnd God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness ... The words “image” and “likeness” speak of an ‘empty representation’ of the ‘real thing,’ just as photo or shadow shows the form of something but it is empty of the real thing. Man was made physically alive, but as an empty container that was well suited to receive Christ’s very real “Spirit of life.” I say “well suited” because God created man with the human “spirit of man” within him to prepare man to receive the real Spirit of life in Christ Jesus” “That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the (His) Spirit is (your) spirit.(John 3:6). Upon one’s expression of belief in Jesus as Savior, His Spirit comes into the human spirit of the believer, to “complete” their creation.

Christ’s “Spirit of life” within the believer’s spirit is the literal “Seed” (Greek, sperma) of God the Father that makes us “the children of God.” (Rom. 8:16). We are born or God’s seeded life that is “in Christ.”

“Being born again, not of corruptible ‘seed,’ but of incorruptible (seed,) by ‘the word of God,’ (which is Jesus, Jn. 1:1) which liveth and abideth for ever.” (1 Peter 1:23)
“Now the promises (covenants, agreements) were decreed and made to Abraham and his Seed (his Offspring, his Heir). He [God] does not say, And to seeds (descendants, heirs), as if referring to many persons, but, And to your Seed (your Descendant, your Heir), obviously referring to one individual, Who is [none other than] Christ (the Messiah).” (Galatians 3:16 (AMP)

Jesus was humanly incarnated through the line by Mary whose father, Heli, tracing His human lineage back to the first human, Adam (see Jesus of Nazareth’s human lineage in Lk. 3:23-38). We can also see Jesus’ Kingly, lineage in Matthew’s gospel, where is recorded the line of Jesus back to Abraham and King David. Christ is thereby Abraham’s “one seed,” which is God’s “One… (spiritual) seed.” Read Galatians 3:16 very carefully.

Now the promises (covenants, agreements) were decreed and made to Abraham and his Seed (his Offspring, his Heir). He [God] does not say, And to seeds (descendants, heirs), as if referring to many persons, but, And to your Seed (your Descendant, your Heir), obviously referring to one individual, Who is [none other than] Christ (the Messiah). (Galatians 3:16 (AMP)

God the Father’s life is multiplied through Jesus as His “One Seed” to “as many as received Him” (John 1:12). God’s life, via His Christ-seed, is reproduced within every believer exactly “after His (God’s) kind,” but also… with the added element of Jesus’ experience of human experience of suffering, dying, then being raised from the dead and ascending acceptably to the Father. These human life experiences of Jesus have been added to “the One Spirit,” of “the Godhead,” which is in Christ (cf. Col. 2:9) as “the Spirit of life” (Rom. 8:2a) in us. These elements make Christ in us both divinely righteous and also human. Thankfully, by His incarnation as a man He can now “be touched with the feeling of our infirmities.” (Heb. 4:15). He knows us very well, by experience.

Paul says the visible physical realm is temporal, but the unseen spiritual realm of “the Spirit of Christ” is eternal. Thus, the spiritual regeneration of the believer is more literal and more organic than one’s physical birth because it is “the eternal life. By regeneration we received the divine eternal life of Christ – the real life! 2 Cor. 4:18 the things which are seen are temporal; but the Things Which Are Not Seen Are Eternal.

Thus, God the Father is the giver of His eternal life to His children via His seed, which is Christ” (Gal. 3:16), who now is “that Spirit” who brings us “liberty” (2Cor. 3:17-18), freeing us from performance-based religion.

The “Spirit of Christ” first became available after Jesus was raised from the dead and had ascended to The Father, then returning to His disciples. Jesus returned to breathe” upon His disciples, saying “receive ye the Holy Ghost (Breath)” (John 20:22). Note that the one Greek word, “pneuma,” is translated both “breath” and “spirit.” Jesus’ “Holy Breath” is one and the same as His Holy “Spirit of Life” that was then imparted into His Jewish disciples.

“Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.(John 20:17)
“when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:” (John 20:22)

Coming to see and understand our literal rebirth by God the Father’s One “Seed (Gk., sperma), which is Christ” is the most radical and powerful revelation a believing child of God can receive. In one precious revelatory moment we may come to see and realize that we as believers have become partakers of God’s own life, literally, with the DNA in His One “Seed which is Christ.”  With that revelation we realize God is our real Father’ – not just ‘kind of like’ a father.
