Part 2 – Paul’s “my gospel” of the Pure Grace of God Is Unique

This Article is part of a multi-part Study Series called Will Christians Endure the Tribulation Judgements on Earth?.

Now Paul, as “the Apostle to the Gentiles says his “my gospel,” “the gospel of the grace of God” was a SECRET having Nothing to Do with Israel’s Prophets or Prophecy. You will see that Peter’s “gospel of the Kingdom” was well Prophesied. So, they must be two different gospels.

25 Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my [Paul’s] gospel, and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery [Gk. musterion, , which was KEPT SECRET since the world began, Romans 16:25 (KJV)

So, in contrast with Paul, Peter says everything that concerns Israel, including its coming restored Davidic kingdom, reigned over by Christ at His return, was Prophesied, spoken of by “ALL the prophets” (v21 below).

[Peter to “ye men of Israel”] “So repent [change your mind and purpose]; turn around and return [to God], that your sins may be erased [blotted out, wiped clean], that times of refreshing [recovering from the effects of heat in reviving with fresh air] may come from the presence of the Lord; 20 And that He may send [to you] the Christ [the Messiah], Who before was designated and appointed for you—even Jesus, 21 Whom heaven must receive [and retain] until the time for the complete restoration of all that God Spoke By The Mouth Of All His Holy Prophets for ages past [from the most ancient time in the memory of man].” (Acts 3:19-21 (AMP)

Note that only Paul writes of the catching away or Rapture of the people to whom he was sent, that is the believing Gentile “body of Christ,”“caught up” is a phrase used only by Paul (cf. Eph 3:1-5).

Though the Lord has been patient, holding back His wrath” for thousands of years to date, with Christ the King in exile. The God of the Scripture is a God of justice and “vengeance.” The LORD said in Deut. 32:35,Vengeance is Mine and retribution.”  Twice more in that same chapter, vs 41, 43, He says, “I will render vengeance on My adversaries.”

The Day of the Lord,” … “of God, … “of Christ,” are expressions often used in the context of end-time events, which refers to the time when God will intervene decisively, brining judgment and for salvation. The Tribulation is variously expressed as “the day of the Lord” (Amos 5:18), the “day of our Lord Jesus Christ” (1 Col 1:8; cf. 2 Col 1:14), the “day of God” (2 Pet. 3:12; Rev 16:14), or “the last day(s),” as expressions referring to the time of Christ at His 2nd coming.

God will then make visible His rule in righteousness during the Millennial Kingdom that follows the full 7-yr. Tribulation; calling for an accounting by the nations and individuals to dispense judgment upon many, and ushering believers into their salvation in His earthly millennial kingdom.

Zephaniah 1:14-18 The great ‘day of the LORD’ is near, it is near, and hasteth greatly, even the voice of the day of the LORD: the mighty man shall cry there bitterly.15 That day is a day of wrath, a day of trouble and distress, a day of wasteness and desolation, a day of darkness and gloominess, a day of clouds and thick darkness,16 A day of the trumpet and alarm against the fenced cities, and against the high towers.17 And I will bring distress upon men, that they shall walk like blind men, because they have sinned against the LORD: and their blood shall be poured out as dust, and their flesh as the dung.18 Neither their silver nor their gold shall be able to deliver them in the day of the LORD’S wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his [The LORD’S] jealousy: for he shall make even a speedy riddance of all them that dwell in the land [of Israel].

In the Old Testament the expression day of the Lord” occurs eighteen times in Prophetic Scripture, most often in Joel and Zephaniah. It is not found in Daniel. A similar expression that stands close to it is “on that day,” occurring 208 times in the O.T.; half the occurrences are in the books of the Prophets. The New Testament equivalent expressions, such as day of Jesus Christ,” are found in 1 Cor. 1:8; 2 Cor. 1:14; Phil. 1:6, 10; and 2 Pet. 3:10, 12, while Day of the Lord” appears in 2 Thess. 2:2.

The coming Tribulation period is a period of judgments upon Israel and all mankind alive at that time. But, we of His bodywill Have Already Been Raptured to Heaven (cf. 1Thes. 4:13-18). Every Christian believer has already been judged “in Christ.” (Rom. 6:3-4). We also died with Him when He bore “the wrath of Godon the cross for us, then giving us His life (Col. 3:4). Paul says the believers are saved from the “the wrath to come.”

Having established that the “wrath of God” is to begin early in the timeline of Revelation events, with the ‘Four Horseman,’ now consider Paul’s words concerning the “wrath of God.”

1 Thess 5:9 For God hath Not Appointed Us to WRATH, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

Romans 5:9 being now justified [made innocent] by his blood, We Shall Be Saved from WRATH through him.

Ephesians 5:6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the WRATH of God Upon the Children of Disobedience.

Colossians 3:6 For which things’ sake the WRATH of God Cometh on the Children of Disobedience:

1 Thessalonians 1:10 And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which Delivered Us from The WRATH to come.

1 Thessalonians 2:16 Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they might be saved, to fill up their sins alway: for the WRATH is come upon THEM to the uttermost. (This verse immediately above speaks of those Jews who forbid Paul from speaking to the “Gentiles that they might be saved”; these opposers will face the wrath that is to come.” )

It is plain to see that the believing members of "the Church, the body of Christ" will never see the angry face of God!
