Part 2 – Sensing Death or ‘Life and Peace’

This Article is part of a multi-part Study Series called The Sense of Life.

A Scriptural basis for Sense guidance is the Sense of His indwelling LIFE & Peace

Rom 8:5-6 they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit (do mind) the things of the Spirit. 6For to be carnally (fleshly) minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is LIFE and PEACE.

How do we know if we as a soul are abiding in union with Him? We will know because will have the sense of His life that is manifested as peace wihtin. Christ’s Peace cannot be counterfeited by Satan, since only Christ Himself “is our peace.”

Ephes. 2:14a For he (Christ) is our peace,

John 14:27a Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, …

Philip. 4:7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep (mount guard in) your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

We can have His peace when outwardly it would seem that we should not have peace.

The “God of Peace” is the Sanctifier of our whole being. We are to be guided by the sense of His peace that separates us from the profane.

1 Thes. 5:23-24 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Holiness and Sanctification both mean “to be set apart unto God,” that is to be separated from things common or the irreverent things of the world. The words “sanctify you wholly” (above) means to sanctify you entirely, completely, thoroughly, unto the consummation. The “God of peace” is the one who is working by “Christ’s life as peace in us… to guide us unto complete sanctification so that ultimately no part of our being, neither our spirit, soul or body, will be left common or profane.

  1. Spirit: Our spirit was sanctified by regeneration the moment we were saved & received “the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus.” God is preserving our spirit from any deadening element.

Ephes. 2:1 And you hath he quickened (made alive), who were dead in trespasses and sins;

1 Corinthians 1:30 But of him (God the Father) are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made

unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

  1. Soul: Our soul is being sanctified daily. God is preserving our soul from remaining natural and old.

Romans 5:10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more, being reconciled, we shall be saved (Gk. sozo, completed) by his life.

  1. Body: While alive, our body is to follow the mindset of the spirit-led soul.” Thus, the body is sanctified as our soul yields to the sense of Christ Life in our spirit.

Romans 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die (be deadened spiritually): but if ye (as a soul self) through the Spirit do mortify (put to death) the deeds of the body, ye shall live (Gk. zao, be fully alive).

The Indwelling “Spirit of Christ” is our source. His Spirit is the Powerful, Overcoming & Enduring Life

Hebrews 7:16 Who (Christ) is made… after the power of an endless (limitless) life.

Ephes. 1:18-19 The eyes (mind) of your understanding being enlightened; (so) that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance IN the saints, 19And (know) what is the exceeding greatness of his power (dunamis, supernatural power) to us-ward who believe, according to the working (Gk. energeia, energy) of his mighty (forceful) power (Gk. kratos, vigor),

His power in us is able overcome Sin-nature of the flesh. But the body of Sin (Rom 6:6) will not yield to one’s independent self-effort in trying to be righteous by Law-keeping. Actually “the law is the power of Sin” (1Cor 15:56b) that brings forth both spiritual and physical death. Paul here speak of his frustrating experience of trying to live by “the Law.”

Rom 7:21-23 I find then a law, that, when I would do good, evil is present with me. 22For I delight in the law of God after the inward man (the soul): 23But I see another law (of sin operating) in my members (body), warring against the law of my (soul’s) mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members.

Note: The above word “I,” which is used 33 times in Romans 7, indicating Paul’s wrong focus of trying to keep “the Law” by his own self-effort, which is impossible.

God in Christ, now in us by “His Spirt”“shall quicken (make spiritually alive) our “body” at the Rapture.

Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up (resurrected) Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken (make alive) your mortal bodies by His Spirit That Dwelleth In You.

1 Corinthians 15:51-52 Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, 52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

Phil. 3:21 Who (God) will transfigure the body of our humiliation to be conformed to the body of His glory...
