Part 3 – ‘Gentile, Jew, Gentile, Jew’ – The Order of Four Broad Bible Ages

This Article is part of a multi-part Study Series called Resurrection for God’s Three People Groups.

Without taking time to go into all details here, we must say in passing that there are three main sections of time covered in Bible history which may roughly be called the over-arching DISPENSATIONS.

  1. GENTILE - The first Bible section is Gentile. It’s in the first eleven chapters of Genesis in which God is dealing with ALL the men of families or nations, meaning the Gentiles,” (Gen. 10:5), This is before Abraham was called in Gen. 12:3. Abraham was called at about 1,000 yrs. BC, so there were no Jews before.
  2. JEWISH Age - The next broad section of the Bible is “Jewish, which continues until God called Paul. God called out one man from one of the families of the earth, Abram, who was to become “Abraham” whose faith led to the beginning of the ‘special people’ or ‘Nation’ that we know as the ‘Nation of Israel.’ All the rest of the Bible, except Paul’s thirteen epistles concerning information for the Gentile “body of Christ,” is concerned with the Nation Israel; 1st prophetically, and later in its Prophetic fulfillment. Seventy-five percent of our Bible is devoted to Israel and its future “Kingdom of heaven” on earth.
  3. A GENTILE Age Again

An interruption occurs inIsrael’s Prophetic Program’ when Jesus from heaven saves Paul. His epistles of Romans through Philemon deal with a previously unmentioned, hidden secret called the “mystery” (Gk., musterion, secret plan of God) based upon new revelation. We find that Israel has been temporarily ‘set aside as God’s chosen people. God in His grace turns to the “GENTILES.” He again deals with ALL the nations” (Gk. ethnos, the Gentiles) under a gospel that includes ALL MEN of ALL races. Thus, individual Israelites may be saved on an equal footing as Gentiles under Paul’s gospel of the grace of God(Acts 20:24) – totally apart from Israel and its Law, ritual, rites, and the promises from God to Israel. Thus, today, during “the dispensation of the grace of God”;

The Secret (hidden) Resurrection will occur for the members of “the Body of Christ” is called ‘the Rapture.’ It will be a glorious “resurrection” to heaven in ‘Spirit-bodies’ like Jesus’ resurrection body. It will include all those who are “in Christ” from the time of the Apostle Paul’s “gospel of the grace of God.” They will hear the sound of “the trump of God” (cf. 1Thes. 4:16).

“But I would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them which are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others which have no hope. 14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. 15 For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent [precede] them which are asleep. 16 For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel [Michael], and with the trump of God: and the dead [sleeping] in Christ shall rise first: 17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up (raptured) together with them [unseen] in the CLOUDS, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Wherefore comfort one another with these words.” (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18)

“For our (citizenship) is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ: 21 Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious (resurrection) body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.” (Philippians 3:20-21 (KJV)

 “For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle [our physical body] were dissolved [disintegrated], we have a building of God, an house [a body] not made with hands, Eternal In The Heavens.” (2 Cor. 5:1)

If We Suffer (Endure), We Shall Also Reign With Him (Christ)…” (2 Tim. 2:12)

4)  JEW AGAIN - The First Resurrection (Rev. 20:6) then comes. It will be of the deceased ‘Kingdom Believers to co-reign with Christ in His Millennial Kingdom come on earth. These are the O.T. saints and the Tribulation martyrs. (The Pres-Israel Faithful will rise later at the “Great White Throne” Judgment.)

“Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death (in the lake of fire) hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.” (Rev. 20:6)

Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven. (Matthew 6:10 (KJV)

After the Rapture of “the church… the body of Christ” to dwell “eternal in heaven” (2Cor. 5:1) and after the subsequent seven-year Tribulation Period Judgments on earth runs their course, they will be followed by the 2nd Coming of Christ to earth. He will judge the nations, the “sheep” and “goat” nations, and save the believers of Israel, to set up His Millennial Kingdom on the earth. Then, Christ will resurrect the “Kingdom come” believers of Israel’s ‘time past,’ along with the martyrs of the terrible 7-year Tribulation Period, ushering them in to reign with Him in His Millennial Kingdom (John 5:28-29; I Cor. 15:23; Rev. 5:10, 17:6; 20:6). Christ’s Millennial Reign will be followed by the Eternal Kingdom on the fully restored, “New Earth” (Rev. 21:1); but first must come the final judgment at the “Great White Throne.”

What about those Gentiles who were faithful believers BEFORE Abraham? They were not included in the groups above. What of them? They will be raised to stand at the “Great White Throne.” They will be ‘judged according to their works in accord with what they knew of God as to how they should perform. E.g., The Pre-Israel believers such as Adam, Abel, and Noah, who eventually performed per God’s Revelation to Them, will dwell with Israel, spiritually alive on the earth. Adam and Eve believed trusted in God’s promise of Gen. 3:15 according to Gen. 4:1 words of faith. Obviously, they were not part of Israel, nevertheless they were faithful to what they came to know of God. Notice how Noah, who was not Jewish, is included here;

Eze. 14:20 20 Though Noah, Daniel, and Job, were in it, as I live, saith the Lord GOD, they shall deliver neither son nor daughter; They Shall but [only] DELIVER THEIR OWN SOULS BY THEIR RIGHTEOUSNESS.

The “Resurrection of the Damned” unto the Second Death will occur at the end of all ages.

“And I saw a Great White Throne, and him [Christ] that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them. 12 And I Saw The Dead, Small And Great, Stand before God; and the Books Were Opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the BOOKS, According To Their Works. 13And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell [grave] delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man According to Their Works. 14And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the Second Death. 15And whosoever was not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire. (Rev. 20:11-15

These are they, Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction [total destruction to ashes in “the lake of fire”] from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power;” (2 Thes. 1:9)

Noting that the “the books were opened,” some wrongly believe that men will be given a 2nd chance at the “Great White throne” but this is not the case. All the outcomes of the resurrection to eternal life or eternal death have been predetermined before they are judged. In that day the unsaved damned lost souls of all ages will be resurrected from the dead to “stand” at the “Great White Throne” Judgment, where they will be found in their sins and judged accordingly unto “eternal destruction” (Jn. 5:29; Rom. 2:4-6; 1Cor. 15:24-26; 2Thes. 1:9; Rev. 20:5, 11-15; 21:8).

This final Judgement event occurs immediately after the 1,000-year reign of Jesus Christ in His Millennial Kingdom on earth and just prior to the eternal kingdom on the New Earth.’

  • Thus, in total there are the four (4) future resurrections.
  • We can be sure that a day of reckoning and a day of eternal blessing or everlasting destruction is soon coming to the dead of all ages. Though God has been longsuffering, patient for several thousand years, while Christ was the King of kings in exile, none will escape Justice Due!
  • Thankfully, all those who have believed God’s words to them (before or after Abraham), or trusted Jesus Christ as their personal Savior during today’s age of the grace of God have been delivered from “the wrath to come (1Thes. 1:10) and from judgment at the “Great White Throne.

“Much more then, being now justified by his blood, We Shall Be Saved from Wrath Through Him.” (Rom 5:9) “For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,” (1 Thess. 5:9)

Today, we and all those who we know… need to believe to receive Christ’s freely offered salvation and His Resurrected Spirit of life”…  by faith in His Cross-work where He Fully Paid our Sin-Debt and He became the life-giving spirit” (1Cor. 15:45). Otherwise, the lost ones we know will slip away into a Christ-less, lifeless, eternal destruction.”

God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, [so] that whosoever Believeth in him should not Perish, but have Everlasting Life.” (Jn. 3:16)
