Part 3 - The Cause of Stunted Spiritual Growth

This Article is part of a multi-part Study Series called The Basics of Right Division of the Word of Truth.

Despite the unclear muddled gospel presentations heard in most churches of Christendom today, there are those, such as myself, who may hear enough Spirit anointed gospel truth to believe and be saved. However, continued subjection to such teaching that is different from dispensational right division of “the word of truth” will only stunt their spiritual growth. My personal testimony is that my growth in ‘the grace and knowledge of the truth’ was gained outside of the organized churches of Christendom. And this is as it was when Jesus’ “little flock” (Luke 12:32) remnant of followers came out from among Apostate religious Israel that existed in Jesus’ day.

It is no wonder that we experience a drought of true spirituality in the church today if at the source we are not established according to the teaching of Jesus “Christ according to the revelation of the mystery.”

“Now to him that is of power to stablish you according to my gospel (Paul’s gospel of the grace of the cross), and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery (secret plan of God concerning of “Christ in you,” cf. Col. 1:27), which was kept secret since the world began, …” (Rom 16:25)

Paul was sent as The Apostle of the members of the Gentile “body of Christ.

“For I (Paul) speak to you Gentiles, inasmuch as I am the apostle (singular) of the Gentiles, I magnify mine office:” (Romans 11:13 (KJV)

“(For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision (Israel), the same was mighty in me (Paul) toward the Gentiles:) 9 And when James, Cephas, and John, who seemed to be pillars, perceived the grace that was given unto me, they gave to me and Barnabas the right hands of fellowship; that we should go unto the heathen (Gk. ethnos, ethnics, Gentiles), and they unto the circumcision (Israel).” (Galatians 2:8-9 (KJV)

Instead, members of “the body of Christ” are weak, frail, and useless against the “body of this death” and “this present evil world” (Rom. 7:24). “(Christ) Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father:” (Galatians 1:4)

As a result of the Christendom’s abandonment of Paul’s unique, clear, simple, pure “gospel of the grace of God,” many church organizations have turned to pop psychology, entertainment, and motivational speakers as… substitutes for the power indwelling of the Holy Spirit who is able to teach us from “the word of God” rightly divided.

“But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God. 11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God. 12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; (so) that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God. 13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth... (1 Cor. 2:10-13).

By relinquishing the teaching of dispensational right division to the scrap heap of ‘petty doctrines,’ we are hindering those who would thrive in the protected soil of sound doctrine,” whereby they may grow in the grace and “knowledge of the truth.”

The silencing of the teaching of dispensational right division is the cause of unclear gospel presentations and stunted spiritual growth among Christians, as well as being the single most harmful hindrance to those who desperately need salvation.

While it is far easier to assume that standing for dispensational right division is non-essential, the “truth of God” says that without this message the cross of Christ would’ve been a shameful defeat (1 Cor 2:7-8). The dispensation committed to Paul is “the manifold wisdom of God,” which is essential to our salvation!

Paul speaks of unifying “the body of Christ” in Ephesians 4:3 after he explains the dispensation of God committed to him in Ephesians 3. He defends unity when it is not “contrary to that which ye have learned” (Rom 16:17).

Christ gave us liberty through “the gospel for our salvation,” not as an excuse to ignore so-called ‘non-essential’ Biblical discussion.

Instead of using our liberty to be complacent towards doctrinal discussion, we are charged to “stand fast” in it, and not to “give place by subjection, not for an hour.” We are subject to “the word of truth” rightly divided, and… therein we stand in Christ.

Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; (Ephesians 6:14)

“Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints, is this grace given, that I (Paul) should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ; And to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery (the secret purposes of Christ’s Cross and Him indwelling His body members), which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ:” (Ephesians 3:8-9)
