Part 3 - God's Life... Multiplied

This Article is part of a multi-part Study Series called The Knowledge of Life.

To the believing Christian … Christ's own resurrected "Spirit of life" has been added into their human spirit to be their EVERLASTING ONE NEW LIFE!

1 John 5:11-12 And this is the testimony: God has given us ETERNAL LIFE (Zoë), and this LIFE IS IN HIS SON. 12HE WHO HAS THE SON HAS LIFE; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.

For Those Who Have Received God's Eternal Life in Christ there is "no more fear of death"

Heb 2:14-15 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself (Christ) likewise took part of the same; that through (His) death he might destroy (Gk., kartargeo, Make Of No Effect) Him (The Devil) That Had The Power Of  Death (Gk, kratos, "dominion over eternal death), that is, the devil; 15to Deliver Them Who Through Fear of Death Were All Their Lifetime Subject To Bondage.

1 Cor. 15:55 O Death, Where Is Thy Sting? O grave, where is thy victory?

Philippians 3:20 For our conversation (citizenship) is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ:

2 Corinthians 5:1 "For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building (house) of God, an House (Gk., oikia, home) Not Made With Hands, ETERNAL IN THE HEAVENS.

The Flow of His Life:

Experientially toward mankind, God flowed His life to enliven created fallen man. Then He FLOWED His Son's redeeming life via the cross, then resurrected in the form of "the Spirit of life in Christ," to be "received" into the "spirit of man," to be their indwelling "WELL of WATER"... of "EVERLASTING LIFE."

Psalm 36:9a with thee (Lord God) is the fountain of life ("chay," masculine, plural = all life).

John 4:14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be In Him A Well of Water Springing Up Into Everlasting Life.

In the New Jerusalem on the New Earth there will be the "River of water of Life" flowing eternally from the throne of God.

Rev. 22:1-2a And he shewed me a pure river of water of life (Zoë, spirit), clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb

The River of life and Tree of Life are pictured in Genesis. The River of Life has in it "Gold, Pearl, & Precious Stones that represent the transforming power of the flow of the God's river of the "Spirit of life in Christ Jesus."

Gen 2:10-14  And a river went (flowed) out of Eden to water the garden; and from thence it was parted, and became into four heads. The name of the first is Pison: that is it which compasseth the whole land of Havilah, where there is gold; And the gold of that land is good: there is bdellium (pearl) and the onyx stone (precious stone).

Rev. 21:18 the wall of it was of jasper: and the city was pure gold, like unto clear glass. (Divinity) 19a the foundations were garnished with all manner of precious stones. (Transformed by the river's flow)

Rev. 21:21a And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; (Redemption flows out of Christ's wounded side)

All believer's today, under grace, are as Spiritual Living Stones, making up God's Spiritual Living Temple.

1 Cor. 3:16-17 ... Ye (Believers) Are The Temple Of God, that the Spirit Of God Dwelleth In You? 17If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for The Temple Of God Is Holy, Which Temple Ye Are.

1 Cor. 3:12 Now if any man build upon this foundation (Christ) gold (divinity), silver (fruit of Redemption), precious stones, (or) wood, hay, stubble;        v13 …it will be "revealed by fire."

Christ as the "Word" is the Expression of God the Father and Always Existed in Union with God

John 1:1-3 In the beginning (the beginning without a beginning, before Genesis) was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2The same was in the beginning with God. 3all things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

The "Son" has Always Existed in Union with the Father as His "only begotten son."

John 10:30  I And My Father Are One.

The Father and the Son are One "Self-existent life"

John 5:26 For as the Father hath Life In Himself; so hath he given to the Son to have Life In Himself;

God's One Son is His "Only Begotten" Son who Makes God Known

John 1:18 No man hath seen God at any time; the only begotten Son (the one unique Son), which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him (revealed Him, brought Him out to be seen, made Him known).

Christ was Begotten "AGAIN" ..."by the resurrection from the dead"

Hebrews 1:5 For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And AGAIN, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?

Romans 1:3-4  Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh (His humanity); 4 And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:

God the Father Sent His One Son to earth… In the Human Body of His Humiliation.

John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. John 1:4a In Him (Jesus Christ) Was Life (Zoë, God's "Spirit of life"); … John 1:14 And the Word (Christ) was made (became) flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

1 Tim. 3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, …

Galatians 4:4 But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made (came into being by) of a woman (Mary), made under the law (subject to the law),

ALL regenerated Born-again believers are partakers of … the "One Life" of … the Resurrected One Son of God

  • As to Life, we are One life with God. We are partakers of His One Life the Savior and become members of "His body."

Jesus in His humanity was declared Son of God being Begotten again "by resurrection" (Rom 1:3-4).

  • As to Our Expression - We're the "many sons" (Heb 2:10) bearing the Godhead Life.

"But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. 10 And if Christ be in you, the (your) body is dead (toward God) because of sin; but the (your) Spirit is life because of (Christ's) righteousness. (Romans 8:9-10 (KJV)

Christ's Life flows to Man via the Cross.

Blood flowed from His Side for Redemption &

Water flowed from His Side… as LIFE to man.

John 19:34 … the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.

John 12:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a (one) corn (grain) of wheat fall into the ground and die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth Much fruit. (The Life of the "One Grain" of Jesus' Life produces "many grains" - the "many sons" of God (Heb. 2:10).

The New Testament Water of the Life flows to man

John 4:14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting (eternal) life.

John 7:38 He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly (innermost man) shall flow rivers of living water.

Old Testament - The Flow of Christ as the "Water of Life" was Prophesied allegorically.

Exodus 17:6 Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock in Horeb; and thou (Moses) shalt Smite The Rock, And There Shall Come Water Out Of It, that the people may drink…

1 Corinthians 10:4 And (Israel) did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ.

The Eternal "Spirit of Life in Christ" is the Real Life for man, coming to him simply by receiving Jesus Christ Himself by believing.

John 1:12  But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Christ's "Spirit of life" is Christ as the "Full Content of God"

Col. 2:9 For In Him (Christ) Dwelleth All The Fulness Of The Godhead Bodily. 10And ye are complete in (union with) him, which is the head of all principality and power:

Eph 3:17-19 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 18May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, THAT YE MIGHT BE FILLED WITH ALL THE FULNESS OF GOD.

Christ's Life is … the very Life of the "Everlasting Father" (Isa 9:6)

John 14:7-11 ... HE THAT HATH SEEN ME HATH SEEN THE FATHER; and how sayest thou then, Shew us the Father? 10Believest thou not THAT I AM IN THE FATHER, AND THE FATHER IN ME? the words that I speak unto you I speak not of myself: but THE FATHER THAT DWELLETH IN ME, he doeth the works. 11Believe me that I AM IN THE FATHER, AND THE FATHER IN ME

Isaiah prophetically wrote of the Messiah: Isaiah 9:6 For unto us A CHILD is born, unto us A SON is given: and the government (of the universe) shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The MIGHTY GOD, THE EVERLASTING FATHER, The Prince of Peace. So, when Jesus Christ speaks it's the Father speaking. When Jesus says "I AMThe Life," it's the Father saying …Jesus is "The Life." The term "I am" was used of the Lord many times in the Old Testament.

Now, the Lord Jesus Christ… in the form of spirit, is the THE HOLY SPIRIT … and the  "the water of Life"

2 Cor. 3:17 NOW the Lord is that Spirit...

John 4:10 Jesus … said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.

John 4:14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be In him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

Before His Death, Burial, Resurrection, and Glorification, Jesus of Nazareth did "not yet" exist in His current Spirit form, thus He was not yet available to be received by or and dwell in believers.

John 7:38-39 (KJV) He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. 39( But this spake he of The Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was NOT YET "given*"; because that Jesus was NOT YET glorified.)

(*Note: the word "given" is italicized in the KJV because it was added by the translators even though it does not appear in the oldest manuscripts.)

Look closely in the verses below and note that the "He" and "Him," referring to the "Comforter" Spirit in v16-17,  becomes the "I" (Jesus Himself) in v18-19.

This means "The Spirit of Jesus" Himself... is the promised "Comforter."

John 14:16-20 I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide With You for ever; 17Even the Spirit of truth (Christ is "the Truth"); whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth With You, and shall be IN You. 18I (Jesus) will not leave you comfortless: I (Jesus) will come to you. 19Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I Live, ye shall Live. 20At that day ye shall know that I am IN my Father, and Ye IN Me, and I IN You.

2 Corinthians 3:17 Now the Lord is that Spirit: ...

Col. 3:4 When Christ, Who Is Your LIFE

2 Cor. 13:5 …Know ye not your own selves…that JESUS CHRIST IS IN YOU

Col. 1:27 ... this mystery, which is CHRIST IN YOU, THE hope of glory.

We do Not receive the "life of God," as though God's life were some "thing" that God can give us as being separate and apart from His own Self.

- Rather, we receive God the Father's very life, which is "in Christ" as "the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus" into our human spirit. Paul wrote; "the spirit giveth life" (2Cor 3:6)

1 John 4:13  Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of HIS Spirit.

Ephesians 3:16  That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;

Receiving "the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus" as the "Seed (Gk., sperma)" of the Father into the womb of our human spirit (2Tim 4:22) makes us the literal birthed "children of God" the Father.

John 1:12  But as many as Received Him (Christ), to them gave he power (authority) to become the sons of God...

1Pet 1:23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed (Gk., sperma), but of incorruptible, by the word (Christ) of God, which liveth and abideth for ever.

Gal 3:16 … thy SEED (Gk. sperma), which IS Christ.

2 Cor5:17 if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away...all things are become new.

Hebrews 13:5b (AMP) 5 ... for He [God] Himself has said, I will not in any way fail you nor give you up nor leave you without support. [I will] not, [I will] not, [I will] not in any degree leave you helpless nor forsake nor let [you] down (or relax My hold on you)! [Assuredly not!]

Considering all this we can say...

  • Real "Life" for man is …
  • The One Life of God the Father …
  • In the Person of the Son (Christ) …
  • now as "the Spirit of Life in Christ Jesus" …
  • flowing to...within... and through as many as received Him.
