Part 5 of 8 – Paul’s Epistles are Distinctive

This Article is part of a multi-part Study Series called Distinction Marks Paul's Epistles.

Paul’s Thirteen Epistles (Romans to Philemon) Are Written to "The Church, which is His Body"

Paul is the Moses of the gospel for the grace of God for the predominantly Gentile "body of Christ." Having established Paul’s ministry earlier in this paper, we know Paul alone is "the Apostle to the Gentiles" (Rom 11:13) as compared to Peter whose ministry was to "the circumcision." Galatians 2:7 But contrariwise, when they saw that THE GOSPEL OF THE UNCIRCUMCISION (non Jew) WAS COMMITTED UNTO ME, as the gospel of THE CIRCUMCISION WAS UNTO PETER; We will skip over Paul’s epistles to "the Body of Christ" and proceed to establish the subsequent epistles as being to and for the circumcision.

From "The Letter to the Hebrews" to "The Book of Revelation" - All Applies to Israel.

The books of Hebrews to Revelation are written to and concerning the Nation Israel for their use and help in the time when the remnant of Israel will need this information in the time of the Tribulation and Millennial kingdom on earth.

Though these books are written to, for, and concerning Israel’s spiritual supply in the Tribulation and Millennium, we of "the body of Christ" today also learn from these books. All Scripture is God-breathed and for our learning. We learn such things as what is written in Hebrews concerning "faith" in Hebrews 11, and "the blood of Christ" in Heb 9, and much more. We just do not apply "the Law" that was given to Israel, or take unto ourselves those things and instructions that only concern the Nation of Israel’s past, present condition, or its future. The "dispensation of the grace of God" was inserted by the ascended Christ from heaven for "the body of Christ" today. It interrupts the timeline of events in Israel’s program… only until the rapture of "the body of Christ" occurs. We have with a different set of instructions for "the body of Christ." which are found in Paul’s thirteen epistles.

The Letter to the Hebrews:

Just as the book of Romans is designed to explain the cross to the body of Christ so the book of Hebrews is designed to explain the cross to the Nation Israel from an Israel perspective. Hebrews notes Israel’s history, father, and religious experience; relating them to the worth and meaning of the cross and blood of Christ.

Hebrews 1:1-2 God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in TIME PAST UNTO THE FATHERS (Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob) by the prophets, 2 Hath in these last days SPOKEN UNTO US (Israel) by his Son (the Messiah)

There is no dispute as to "The Letter to the Hebrews" whom it is directed. God spoke in "time past" to and through the fathers of Israel and then His Son spoke to "us" – meaning unto "the lost sheep of the house of Israel." We know that "I (Jesus) was sent ONLY TO the lost sheep of the house of Israel." (Matthew)

Immediately following Pentecost, "the twelve" Apostles were sent to "the lost sheep of the house of Israel" (Matt 10:5-6) and came with "signs following." Note the sins referenced here; Hebrews 2:4 God also bearing them (Israel) witness, both WITH SIGNS AND WONDERS, and with divers miracles, and gifts of the Holy Ghost, according to his own will? The "signs following" were just in accord with what Jesus had prophesied for His Messianic Apostles in Matt 16:20. The signs were given because "the Jews require a sign" (1Cor 1:22).

Also a "new covenant" is mentioned here in Hebrews. Hebrews 8:7 For if that first covenant had been faultless then should no place have been sought for the second. Hebrews 8:13a In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old

Since the Gentiles never had the "old covenant" they cannot have anything to be referred to as "new covenant."

Then we need to consider that there are conditional relationship statements that mark or indicate books in the New Testaments that are written to and concerning the Nation of Israel.

By contrast, the pure grace believer’s relationship today under "the dispensation of the grace of God" is based purely upon grace through faith without works (Eph 2:8-9). So when we see conditional relationship statements we now we are back under Israel’s program based upon "faith with a works requirement" (See James 2:20, 26 below). Hebrews contains several of these conditional relationship claims, here below are just a couple as examples.

Hebrews 3:6 But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, IF WE HOLD FAST the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.

Hebrews 3:14  For we are made partakers of Christ, IF WE HOLD the beginning of our confidence stedfast unto the end;

Don’t these verses confirm exactly what Jesus spoke when he addressed "the lost sheep of the house of Israel"? "And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved." (Matthew 10:22)

These conditional statements above further serve to prove the writer of Hebrews is writing to the children of Israel in the Tribulation, while still under the law of faith with a works requirement. By contrast, Paul says we of "the body of Christ" are to conduct our walk under the very same grace through faith apart from works as was enforce for our salvation. Colossians 2:6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
