Peter Learned from Paul

“And account that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also according to the wisdom given unto him hath written unto you; 16 As also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things; in which are some things hard to be understood, which they that are unlearned and unstable wrest, as they do also the other scriptures, unto their own destruction.” (2 Peter 3:15-16 (KJV)

Having learned of the Crosswork of Christ from Paul, earlier in 2 Peter he writes to the believers of Israel in the Tribulation Period just before the kingdom comes on earth… warning and encouraging them in the truth of sins forgiven.

“Forgetting” our sins have been taken care of can make us “blind and barren” (v 9 below). Forgetting our being forgiven, blinds us to the riches we have in Christ and our future glory with Him, rendering our lives fruitless.

May we as grace believers today be ever mindful of so great a salvation as we already have with the forgiveness of ALL our sins.

2 Peter 1:5-11 (KJV)
5 And beside this, giving all diligence, add to your faith virtue; and to virtue knowledge;
6 And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness;
7 And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity.
8 For if these things be in you, and abound, they make you that ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

9 But he that lacketh these things is blind, and cannot see afar off, and Hath Forgotten That He Was Purged [past tense] From His Old Sins [Long Ago].

10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure [steadfastly]: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:

11 For so an entrance shall be ministered unto you abundantly into the everlasting kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.
