The Law

Two Plans of Salvation

Some preachers say: “There are many things in the Bible which are hard to understand but, thank God, the plan of salvation is as simple as can be.”  I would say yes! The plan of salvation is simple… but only IF we obey Paul’s admonition of 2Timothy 2:15 to “rightly divide the Word of truth.” Otherwise, as you will see, the Bible is a book of seeming contradiction and confusion.

The Purpose of The Law

“... by the deeds (works) of the law there shall no flesh be justified in His sight…” (Rom. 3:20).

It’s strange that so many sincere people can so misunderstand God’s written Word as to suppose that He gave the Law “to help us to be good” or “as a rule of life.”

The Law was not given to help us to be good, but rather to show us that we are sinners and need a Savior. Rom. 3:22-23 says that “there is no difference, for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.”

Christian Liberty

Christian liberty is a priceless possession. It can be abused, of course, but legitimately used it is an overflowing source of spiritual joy and empowerment for living.

God’s purpose with regard to the liberty of the believer in Christ is aptly summed up for us in one short verse in the Galatian letter:

“For, brethren, ye have been called unto liberty; only use not liberty for an occasion to the flesh, but by love serve one another” (Gal. 5:13).
