What were Israel’s “Cities of Refuge.”? What did they signify for Israel? What do they mean for Israel in the 7-year Tribulation?

“Then ye shall appoint you cities to be cities of refuge for you; that the slayer may flee thither, which killeth any person at unawares (unintentionally)” (Numbers 35:11).

There is something prophetic Israel’s “Cities of Refuge” as we will see in context?

Paul wrote here using this term “the Israel of God.”

“in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. ¹⁶And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon “the Israel of God.” (Gal. 6:15-16)

In Bible study, according to Paul’s admonition of “rightly dividing the world of truth” (2Tim 2:15), we need to differentiate between three people groups with regard to their relationship with the Lord and His call for them, if we are to see His eternal plan as a whole; encompassing both “the heaven and the earth” (Gen 1:1).

I am writing of these three (3) people groups of God:

1) Apostate (fallen away) Nation Israel, which is presently “fallen” (Rom. 11:10-11, 25)^.

Paul write in Galatians 6:15-16: “For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but a new creature. ¹⁶And as many as walk according to this rule, peace be on them, and mercy, and upon the Israel of God.” Who is “the Israel of God”? Is it the nation Israel, or the Church the Body of Christ? As usual, we must look at the context and let the Bible interpret itself.

Before I get to the one and only Christian baptism for today, I need to lay some groundwork of understanding concerning John the Baptist’s water “baptism unto repentance” for the Israelites of His and Jesus’ day only.
