Peace in Trying Times

Thankfully, we as believers have within us as reservoir of inner peace to keep us and guide us in our daily living.

"Be careful (anxious) for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." (Philippians 4:6-7 (KJV)

The other evening, I turned on the national news to see what current chaos and mayhem was going on in the world.

I really wasn’t surprised by what I heard! Year after year, the headlines are becoming increasingly more ominous. In the Middle East, Syria is embroiled in a major civil war; Israel is repeatedly threatened with annihilation; and ISIS, the Taliban, and al-Qaeda is attempting to build an Islamic State where the beheadings of those who reject their ideology is commonplace. Then there’s Iran, which is nearing the completion of a nuclear bomb, that will undoubtedly result in the nuclear proliferation of other nations in the region.

In Europe, many countries push toward one-worldism and those such as Italy may be facing financial collapse. Greece has already declared bankruptcy. Here in America, our government has managed to rack up a national debt to the tune of 22 trillion dollars, which our country will probably live to regret simply because there’s no one to bail us out. If this isn’t troubling enough, most of our cities are becoming more like the wild west where lawlessness has taken over our streets with daily car-jackings and shootings being a common occurrence.

We witness the cultural decay as seen in most empires before their fall (e.g., Greece, Rome); we see the destruction of the family unit, confusion of genders, marriage, and the depreciation of human life, not only by abortion but also with infants born alive… being killed. A new analysis published by the National Right to Life Committee indicated there have been an estimated 60,069,971 abortions in the USA since the Supreme Court handed down its 1973 Roe vs. Wade decision allowing virtually unlimited abortions. If not judged, God would have to apologize to Hitler, Stalin, Po Pot, and Mao Tse-tung.

Then the hucksters (commercial hucksters and even worse are the religious hucksters) as opportunists have seized the moment to run sell their wares and run commercials between these alarming headlines to alert everyone to the coming economic collapse that will make the 2008 crash look insignificant. The survivalist takes advantage of this mass hysteria to warn everyone to be prepared for the next act of God or man-made disaster by purchasing a survival kit with a large supply of food and weapons. Many would take two aspirins and lie down after reading the news.

It is important for you to know that while there will be no great revival in “the last days” of this “dispensation of the grace of God,” as many Christians expect, but, the Apostle of this age, Paul, predicted that perilous times and lawlessness (below) would be prevail and be widespread in the last days of today’s age of grace, as seen here.

1 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. 2 For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, 3 Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, 4 Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; 5 Having a (only a religious) form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away. 6 For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts, 7 Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.  (2 Timothy 3:1-7 (KJV)

These troubling times and events have caused many believers, those who fail to understand the Bible by “rightly dividing the Word of truth” in faith, to wonder if we are in the early stages of the Tribulation. But I would assure everyone who reads these words that if you are a believer in Christ you are delivered from the future Tribulation and wrath to come. Consider Paul’s words here below.

10 And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which Delivered Us From The Wrath To Come. (1 Thessalonians 1:10 (KJV)
9 For God Hath Not Appointed Us To Wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, (1 Thessalonians 5:9 (KJV)

Paul here below prophesies the fate of the unbelievers of the very last “Day of the Lord,” which will occur after our Rapture to heaven.

15  And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; 16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb (Jesus Christ, the sacrificed Lamb of God): 17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand? (Revelation 6:15-17 (KJV)

We should note that not one Old Testament Bible prophecy is being fulfilled today, including those found in the four Gospels and in the early Acts Period. But we can see that the stage is being set by Satan for coming world events, we see it in the push for a one-world government, in which Antichrist will ultimately rule most of the whole world before Christ comes in His wrath to seek vengeance and destroy them. The headlines we see should remind us that we are living in man’s day and will experience many times the injustices of man’s wrath as the hand of Satan (I Cor. 4:3) through the corruption of their minds. 4 In whom the god of this world (Satan) hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them. (2 Corinthians 4:4 (KJV)

Yet, through it all, we as people of faith in God, knowing His great love, can rest in the peace of God that passes all understanding — for it will keep our hearts and minds through the most trying times!

We know the world will be judged in God’s long delayed wrath but it will not end but be made new when His kingdom is established upon planet earth.

1 And I saw a new (Grk, kainos, renewed, remade) heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. 2 And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. 4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. 5 And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful. 6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely. 7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son. 8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death. (Revelation 21:1-8 (KJV)

Several years before this “the church, the body of Christ” will be Raptured to co-reign with Christ eternally in the heavens.

12 If (since) we suffer, We Shall Also Reign With Him: if we deny him, he also will deny us (from reigning): (2 Timothy 2:12 (KJV)
1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle (our physical body) were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, Eternal In The Heavens. (2 Corinthians 5:1 (KJV)
