The Eyes of The Lord Seeketh Such As These

9The eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the whole earth, to show Himself strong in the behalf of them whose heart is perfect (Heb., shalem, wholly and humbly committed) toward Him" 2 Chron. 16:9

The meaning of this passage of Scripture is clear, and its truth has been demonstrated a thousand times over. God is constantly searching, as it were, for men whom He can bless and use in the fulfilling of His purposes unto the end. 10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him: Ephesians 1:10

But, for whom, and through whom, does He accomplish His eternal purpose?

Foremost, it was through Jesus who "humbled Himself... unto death of the cross" that Gods purposes will ultimately be fulfilled.

8 And being found in fashion as a man, he (Jesus) humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Philippians 2:8

But also and only then did He obtain those who are humbly committed to serve and endure by God's Christ as Lord. They will serve Him eternally in the heavens, and through whom the earth will be ruled in justice and righteousness.

12 If we suffer (endure), we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us (that reigning): 2Timothy 2:12

1 For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. 2 Corinthians 5:1

He does not need the world's influential giants. 6Not by might, nor by power, but by My Spirit, saith the Lord of hosts. Zech. 4:6

He does not need the world's great thinkers, for our Lord, while on earth, prayed:

25Thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes. 26Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Thy sight. Matt. 11:25-26

Paul declares; 19The wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. 1 Cor. 3:19

No, it is not upon the world's great ones that God bestows His blessing and power; it is rather upon the humblest believer whose heart is right with Him. Thus it is that by divine inspiration Paul wrote to those in ancient Corinth who had trusted Christ as their Savior:

26Ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called: but God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; and base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to nought things that are: that no flesh should glory [boast] in His presence" 2Cor. 1:26-29

To those of us who believe that God created the universe from nothing all this is perfectly consistent and it gives us confidence that He can bless and use even the least of us for His eternal purpose.
