Freed Slaves

Jesus said, “Whosoever committeth sin is the servant (Gk., doulos, slave) of Sin. (Jn 8:34).

“Sin,” in the singular is seen as the evil Serpentine nature that dwelling IN the Flesh (Rom 8:3b) of all mankind.

SIN, seizing the opportunity and getting a hold on me [by taking its incentive] from the commandment, beguiled and entrapped and cheated me, and using it [the Law as a weapon], killed me.” (Rom 7:11 (AMP)

ALL of mankind is born “in Sin,’ needing to be freed the dominion of the Satanic Sin-Nature located “in the flesh” (Rom 8:3b) of his body.

Thankfully, the Lord ‘Redeemed’ us from Sin’s dominion through the shed blood and death of His cross.

1) He Redeemed us from the dominion of “Sin in the flesh,” and from Sin’s result, the death payment that was due for sins.

2) He Redeemed us from “the curse of ‘the Law,” which is “the power Sin,” even in Christians. 1 Cor. 15:56 (KJV) the strength (power) of sin is the law.

First, Biblical “redemption” involves the believer’s deliverance from bondage to Sin,’ as its ‘slaves.’ We need to understand the word “slaves” as Jesus and Paul used it with regard to man’s condition under the tyrannical rule of the ‘Sin-nature.’

Let’s look into the exact meaning of the word "redemption." What does it mean to be “redeemed”? Our English word "redeem" is derived from the word of the Greek Bible text,exagorazo,’ which is actually a translation derived from these three (3) Greek words.

1) Agarazo,’ means,       “to buy at the market.

2)Ex-agarazo,’ means,to buy out of the market.”

3) ‘Lutron,’ means,          “to set free upon receipt or payment of the ransom price”

The Greek word “lutron” (above) is transliterated “apolytrosis,” and used here below

Eph. 1:7 In whom (in Christ) we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

The payment made for our redemption was in ‘Christ’s shed blood.’

A typical slave owner and slave buyer would buy a slave “at the market” (agarazo), and out of the slave market’ (ex-agarazo), thus making the slave to be ‘his slave.’ But of course that slave was still a slave and in bondage, bound to his new owner.

Yet, by use of the Greek word ‘lutron’, meaning to SET FREE upon Receipt of Payment of the Ransom Price,” we see that The Lord Purchased Us with His Own Shed Blood… To Set Us Free from the “dominion of Sin,” and also from the demand of “the Law” that required our death.

Colossians 2:14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances (Laws) that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are NOT under the law, but under grace.

Our Redemption is from the dominion and ‘the power of ‘Sin,” and also from the death penalty that was due us for our acts of sinning (cf. Rom 6:23).

Our Redemption for men of all ages is based upon Christ’s Payment of the Price… as our Redeemer.’ The “redeemed” believer has freedom, ‘purchased liberty’ (i.e., the Greek, exagorazo), through Christ’s shed blood.

18 … ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; 19But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: (1 Peter 1:18-19)

9… Thou (Jesus) Wast Slain, and Hast Redeemed Us To God… (Rev 5:9).

20 You were Bought With a Price [purchased with a preciousness and paid for…… (1Cor 6:20 (AMP)
