Part 2 – Denominational Bias

This Article is part of a multi-part Study Series called The Importance of the Scriptures.

Again, oftentimes, Bible questions are answered from a denominationally-biased viewpoint, and this is quite unfortunate because church tradition rather than God’s pure Word is perpetuated. Lost people remain on their way to eternal damnation, and Christians remain unaware of God’s Word and will for their lives. This should not be so. We need to realize that It’s not enough to be ‘scriptural’; we must also be dispensational in our approach to “the word of God.” All of the Bible is for us, but not all the Bible is written to us or about us specifically, during today’s dispensational age of “the grace of God.”

In 2 Timothy 2:15 (KJV only), the Holy Spirit wrote through the Apostle Paul,

Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.”

This is the only verse in the Bible that tells us to study the Bible as seen in the KJV ONLY. The same verse also tells us how to study the Biblethat is by rightly dividing the word of truth.”

 Unless we study and believe the Bible as it is divided ‘dispensationally,’ we will never understand it as it is meant to be, we will be completely ignorant of God’s will for our lives in this age of “the grace of God.” Many then are quite shocked to learn that what that presumed the Bible to teach, may not actually be what the Bible teaches.

When you read my writings, you will certainly learn things that are seemingly controversial because they are different from the information taught in the average “Christian” assembly and preached by the average “Christian” minister. And that’s okay, we are not seeking men’s approval, we seek God’s approval.Study to shew thyself approved unto God Thus, we appeal to the Scriptures, “rightly divided,” as our only authority!

I share God’s desire;

“to make all men see what is the fellowship of the mystery (of Christ in you,” cf. Col 1:27), which from the beginning of the world HATH BEEN HID IN GOD, who created all things by Jesus Christ” (Eph. 3:9).

The goal is to “have all men saved, and come unto the knowledge of the truth (1 Timothy 2:4). God wants to have souls saved from sin’s penalty, with total forgiveness of ‘all sins’and have all men saved from the power of “Sin in the flesh.” One is thereby from “everlasting destruction” (2 Thess. 1:9). Then also we enjoy soul salvation from ‘false teaching’ unto… ‘sound Bible doctrine’… that nourishes the soul.

First, God would have all men to exclusively trust in and rely upon His Son Jesus Christ and His finished Crosswork at Calvary as their only all-sufficient payment for their sins. God then also wants Christians to trust in and rely upon Christ Crosswork (as seen in the grace doctrines that are found in Paul’s thirteen epistles of Romans through Philemon, so they may live genuinely sanctified lives.

Both occurrences of “What saith the scripture?” have a special application to us. Each instance correlates to one of these issues below. For to “have all men SAVED, and come unto the knowledge of the TRUTHis our purpose. (1 Tim. 2:4)

  1. “What saith the scripture? Abraham believed God, and it was counted unto him for righteousness,” (Romans 4:3)
  2. This verse answers the question of salvation from sins and everlasting death; gained by faith in place of works for “all men to be SAVED;” (1 Tim. 2:4).
  3. Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.” (Galatians 4:30)

This Bible to answers the question of soul ‘salvation from false teachingthrough the ‘knowledge of the TRUTH… of sound Bible doctrine; e.g., to see pure 100% grace’ that is for today in place of legalism’ is to “come unto the knowledge of the TRUTH;” (1 Timothy 2:4).

We need to have a clear understanding of how to have forgiveness of sins and justification unto eternal life, and also to have a clear understanding of what God’s Word has to say about the issues of our Christian life. May we be like the Bereans with whom Paul shared the word of truth;

“[Those at Berea] were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word [Paul had shared] with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so (Acts 17:11).

Have you ever wondered why so many people grow angry when we try to share the truth of approaching “the word of truth” by rightly dividing” Israel’s program from Paul’s grace program for the Gentile “body of Christ” today? I recognize seven reasons why people get angry when we share the concept of Dispensational Bible study with them.  Here we start with reason ‘1.’

1. Emotions: We must always remember we are dealing with an extremely personal matter. Regardless of the friendliness and sincerity of denominational Christians, they still have emotional attachments to their particular group’s tenets. Even if they are saved people who understand justification “by grace through faith” in Christ without works, they have the same emotions that lost people have. A saved person’s “flesh (sin nature)” is just as rotten as a lost person’s “flesh.” If the Christian is not renewing his or her mind daily with sound Bible doctrine, he or she is operating on the same basis the lost person is functioning; relying upon either emotions or human intellect and viewpoint. There’s no Spirit of God working in either life. They are all merely “coasting along” in the energy of their flesh, to burn out soon and find themselves miserably stranded.

If you have had any experience in a denominational system yourself, you know that church tradition is extremely hard to abandon. Some people go their whole lives, perhaps 80-90 years, and never give up their religion. Perhaps it’s a theological system that family and friends embrace. Thus, in their mind, it is a betrayal of loved ones to listen to right division. A lot of people are in their particular denominations or local churches because of close family ties. Also, there are preachers’ salaries involved. There are egos (pride) associated. People will have to start admitting that they’ve been wrong. They will have to concede that they have been taught wrong. They will have to admit that they have believed wrong. They will have to disclose that they have taught others wrong. As you can imagine, this is quite devastating for lost and saved people alike. Much of their lives have been based on lies, and who wants to admit a faulty foundation?

Paul mentions people who do not consent towholesome words, even to the words of our Lord Jesus Christ.” Note their malady, and how Paul says we are to deal with them.

“If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; 4He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, 5Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: From Such Withdraw Thyself.” (1Tim. 6:3-5)

We are to teach others sound Bible doctrine, telling them how to have their sins forgiven by faith in Christ’s finished crosswork alone. After they’re saved unto eternal life, tell them about why God saved them from their sins, as found in Paul’s epistles. But, if they consent not to wholesome words, even the word of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness,” if they refuse to hear us at any point, the Scriptures tell us to withdraw” from them. That is, leave them in their ignorance. 1 Cor. 14:38 applies first and foremost to Christians, and, if we are to “withdraw” from rebellious Christians, then also all the more from lost people! The Holy Spirit says they are “proud, knowing nothing.” They refuse to admit that they are wrong, and they refuse to admit that they have been learning and/or teaching perversions of “the word of truth.” Pride has gotten in the way, and they have pushed the Bible out of the way. Don’t waste your time with them, move on to people who do want the truth!

This from Art Licursi - “I recently contended with a believer whose history was Pentecostal / Charismatic, being enamored with Israel’s ‘miracle gifts.’ These so-called ‘miracles’ were in fact to be “signs” for Israel as seen in Jesus’ miracles of the Four Gospels. In John 2:11, at Cana the word “miracles” in the KJV actually the Greek ‘semeion,’ meaning “the beginning of signs.” In early the Acts period, these ‘signs’ to give the Twelve Apostles and their “gospel of the kingdom” credibility. Paul wrote; “The Jews require a sign.” (1Cor. 1:22-24). But, now, Israel has fallen and her time of God-given ‘signs’ has long past, along with the ‘Gifts of the Spirit,’ ending as seen in 1Cor 13:8-10.

This genuine believer with whom I was speaking, as many others, just can’t let go of her past ‘experiences,’ valuing them above the word of God… refusing to consider “What saith the Scripture?” I find this a problem more among Pentecostal / Charismatics than anyone else.

We must always approach God’s word with our ‘hands palm up’ open to receive, not with closed hands, holding to the past. His “word” is supreme and all-sufficient in the light of the Holy Spirit thus we can disregard all ‘external input.’ We must lay aside our emotional ties to our past experiences and the seemingly ‘spiritual people’ who may have been instrumental at some time in our Christian lives. You may soon realize that these ‘spiritual people’ were not spiritual but rather religiously emotional and not established in what Paul calls “sound doctrine.”.)

CAUTION: Those who are deceived to look for the miraculous during today’s age of indwelling Grace of Christ’s life and will as being all-sufficient for our lives, will easily be deceived by the coming “lying wonders” of the “last days” as Satan prepares the world for the miracle workings of Antichrist and his demons. Paul cautions us here.

“[that is] Even him [any religious worker], whose coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders,” (2 Thes 2:9(KJV)

 I predict there will be increasing ‘apparitions of Mary,’ people supposedly being caught up to heaven and returning. This will all be preparatory of the religious False Prophet of the book of Revelation to point people away The Lord Jesus Christ … to the Antichrist. the false god. There will be many other “lying wonders” to deceive the masses … including ignorant Christians. The fascination of the Pentecostal / Charismatic adherents makes for a perfect breeding ground for such deception.”
